Zeller commenced an apprenticeship
in cabinetmaking in 1989 making new
pieces and antique restoration.
In 1992 he enrolled in the Work Skills
competition, which is held every two
years to recognize excellence in all
trade fields. Zeller won the regional
round and continued to impress the
judges, winning the Australian national
title for cabinetmaking one year later
earning him the right to compete against
the rest of the world.
In 1993 Zeller competed in the I.V.T.O.
International Skill Olympics in Taipei,
Taiwan where he ranked 6th in the
world and received a diploma of excellence.
Upon his return he started ZELLER'S
where they specialize in making one-off
pieces as well as antique restoration.
Zeller employed his first apprentice
in 1995 and during this period Zeller
won the Mother of Pearl scholarship
and travelled to Florence to experience
and work with some of Italy's most
accomplished antique restorers.
Zeller trained his own award winning
apprentice Charles Smith, who went
on to rank 8th in the world at the
Skill Olympics in St. Gallen, Switzerland,
1997.
Zeller's list of accomplishments also
includes being awarded 'The Queens
Trust for Young Australians', where
he again travelled to Florence for
the scholarship in 1998.
A further testament to Zeller's skills
saw him in 1999, invited to become
the Australian international judge
by the Australian World Skills foundation
judging the international orld skills
competition in Montreal, Canada in
1999.
Zeller continued to be the international
expert in 2001 Seoul, Korea.
In 2002 Zeller's second apprentice
Adrian Lywood won the regional and
national competitions to compete in
St. Gallen, Switzerland 2003, Zeller
again being the international expert.
Zeller went on to be the international
competition project designer in Helsinki,
Finland 2005 and is still involved
with the organisation to this day.
